BETTER UNDERSTAND THE ENVIRONMENTAL & SOCIAL IMPACT OF OUR PRODUCTS

AS THE NO. 1 BEAUTY BRAND IN THE WORLD, WE HAVE A ROLE TO PLAY TOWARDS SUSTAINABLE BEAUTY, NEVER COMPROMISING ON PERFORMANCE

Since 2013, L’Oreal Paris has taken a list of actions to become more sustainable and has set up in 2020 new objectives to better respect planetary boundaries. 11 of our 26 factories are carbon neutral.  we improved the biodegradability of our rinsing formulas from 65% up to over 95% for some of them. The target is now to bring a maximum of products to this level.  By 2025 L’Oreal Paris factories will be using only 100% renewable energy, becoming carbon neutral, and by 2030 we commit to reducing our carbon emissions by 50%*, improving all our products across the entire value chain, from packaging design, to formulation processes, until the end of life.

ENVIRONMENTAL & SOCIAL IMPACT

The method used to calculate the score of each product is approved by 11 independent scientific experts and the data is certified by Bureau Veritas, independent auditor.
In cosmetics, the carbon footprint and the water footprint are two key components of the product's environmental impact. Each product can thus be classified in relation to other L’Oréal products within the same category.
Finally, additional information on the manufacturing conditions, packaging and social contribution of the product such as the support of vulnerable communities are detailed in the "Environmental and social impact" section of your product description sheets, to provide 100% transparency on haircare products.
